Education

We have built and opened in October 2009 a combined Community Centre/School , appointed a Head teacher and  staff of appropriate calibre who are now providing basic education for approximately 300 children aged 3-6 years  and put together educational programmes for both children and adults who have received no formal education , with the aim of integrating pupils and programmes into the embryonic state educational system as it develops.

Health

Financed, built and opened in July 2010 a simple Health Centre with facilities to diagnose and treat the basic medical problems within the community and  appointed a trained paramedic/pharmacist , a nurse and a laboratory technician to staff the Centre
.
Generally we are guiding the population towards self-sustainability and self-governance by training a small group of “senior managers” how to manage and account for all the various activities, assisted by a trained book-keeper.

Farming

Begun cultivation on the  farm which will be the principal mechanism whereby the poorer people can contribute their labour to pay for healthcare and the education of their children and which will be the principal vehicle for wealth creation within the community. To date, it has a small livestock population for dairy products which will always provide milk etc for the elderly and the very poor as well as the surplus being sold in the community shop and is already growing local crops for harvesting in 2011 with a view to switching in due course to fruit and vegetable production to meet local needs and generate cash from external sales , as farming expertise grows .

Begun rainwater harvesting for use in times of drought ;  Phase Two contains significant expenditure on a micro-irrigation scheme for distribution of ground water which will allow year-round crop production.
